1st Birthday Celebrations

I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I forgot Cush & Nooks, the blog's 1st birthday!!! Thanks to Santa over at Homestilo for jogging my memory inadvertently. It was the 4th March 2011 that I began my adventure in the blogging world. It feels much longer than a year, and I mean that in a good way... so many positive things have come to me through blogging, and I get so much enjoyment from it. Thanks to each and every one of you who grace me with your presence. If I have provided you with just a tiny portion of the inspiration I have gained myself, then I am happy.

My taste has changed and grown over the year. I have been influenced by a lot of overseas elements - Scandinavia (as you well know), and I also love a pinch of the exotic - Moroccan & Indian being two of my favourites. I'm looking forward to seeing what this next year will bring me, and will welcome it with open arms. Vic xxx

To India with Love

Dear India, thank you for the inspiration you bring me, for your exquisite colours & patterns, and incredible architecture. Please can I come and stay with you soon?

Thanks also to Lindi Kingi for alerting me to the blog 'hope this lasts', which inspired this blog posting. It's Sydney based author, Aubrey Daquinag, has recently returned from a trip to India, and her beautiful photographs and poetic writing has given me an overwhelming urge to catch the next plane to India and experience the beauty for myself.

Were it not for my motherly duties, and lack of funds I would definitely be winging my way there right now. In the meantime I will have to make-do with these beautiful images. The first one below is what I will be putting up on my hot pink chalk board wall in my kitchen.

So you can see why I love bone inlay furniture - it's my little piece of India here at home (and could be in your home too!).

Rue's February Issue

Thanks to Annie, over at Annie Loveridge Interiors, for reminding me it was time to catch up on some lovely online magazines. Rue's latest issue is out, and, as always, it's a great read. Here's a sneak peek, and some of my favourite images found within...

A great idea for those old vintage oars, which make great art

You can't go wrong with furniture that has beautiful lines (and curves)

Lovely fresh bathroom with a Scandinavian feel

I featured this on my FB page recently - love the subway tiles, the pendant lights & the '3'

I love to have my favourite little items on display

The little pillows are fab. I 100% agree with their 'humor' comment - make your home a fun place to live
