The Wrubel's Style Story

You know I love getting a sneak peek into other people's homes, especially those who express their unique personalities with style. Well, I've found the perfect website in which to indulge myself. Our Style Stories is a series of fabulous stories written by interior designer and photographer, Hilary Walker. Like me, Hilary is inspired by the way other creatives decorate their homes, and this following story truly inspired me.

This is the house of Lucy, Steve and Stella Wrubel - a cooler family it will be hard to find! Lucy is a hip DJ, and Steve is a world travelled photographer. Together they have shared many adventures and their free-spiritedness is evident in their Dallas, Texas home where they live with their daughter, Stella.

The Wrubels embrace bold colours, and their home is filled with amazing furniture and art, with a healthy dose of quirkiness thrown in. A photo Steve took of a crowd at an Italian soccer match has been blown up as custom wallpaper for the stairwell wall. That is so cool!

Like mother, like daughter... Stella also has a love of bright colour, and pretty things.

And the fun isn't just contained on the inside... Dream catchers and colourful skulls happily co-exist outside the window, and beautiful ribbon hangings adorn the trees. I really love the vibrancy and 'joie de vivre' of this home. If you do too, make sure you pop over to Hilary's website to see and read more about it.

New Kantha Quilts

I recently unpacked a new selection of beautiful kantha quilts from India, and have loaded them into the Cush & Nooks shop. I absolutely love these quilts which are made from 100% cotton and lovingly hand-stitched with the traditional kantha running stitch. The lightweight cotton means they're perfect in the summer over a sheet, and in the cooler months just pop them over a quilt.

The sweet little polka dots are a more contemporary version of the quilt. I've also chosen some in a gorgeous ikat print, and the traditional fruit print in vibrant shades of yellow are pure joy! As well as bedspreads, the quilts make fabulous throws and tablecloths.

Thank you so much to the wonderful Florence Charvin of Fotographie by Florence for all the photos. And to my dear friend, and partner in crime, Dael Brady, who helped style and photo direct :)

Society Social - My Happy Place

Life is extremely busy when you're a working Mum, I know you can all relate. Juggling everything that motherhood brings with three beautiful, active kids, as well as running a business, and all the extras, well, it can be exhausting. Don't get me wrong, it's so rewarding, and I wouldn't change a thing. But there are times when I have to escape to my 'happy place'. I have several, and one of them is Society Social. Just five minutes exploring their website brings me joy! Beautiful, unique furniture, gorgeous colour and pattern, and always fabulous styling. Often a touch of gold too. Do you have a happy place?
