This posting is especially for my lovely blogger friend, Santa from Homestilo - be sure to check out her fantastic blog. She was interested in my powder coated deer, so I thought I would show her, and all of you, where I got my inspiration from.
This is the 'Alice in Wonderland' collection created by Aroha Lewin & Zekiah Heath. Together they scoured second hand shops in search of once loved metal objects. They wanted to bring these beautiful old objects into today's world, breathe new life into them. By resurfacing the objects in bright colours it re-contextualises them, and makes them new again. I love the idea of taking old objects and making them contemporary, and I think they are simply stunning. What do you think?
I've had a fantastic weekend. The Market on Saturday was great and I met lots of wonderful people. It was my best friend's birthday, and we drank bubbles and cheered on our mighty All Blacks. Then we finished off spending Sunday afternoon and evening with friends at their beautiful home in the Havelock hills overlooking most of Hawke's Bay.
Because it's Spring, and their are a plethora of birthdays at this time of year, I am giving a complimentary Cath Kidston bookmark or magnet set this week, to all orders over $30 (not including shipping, one gift per order). These gorgeous gifts would also make lovely stocking stuffers, because Christmas will be here before you know it. If you've had your eye on something special, now is the time to buy it.
I've mentioned before that I have a soft spot for decorating with deer. And the pink deer below are on my wish list, when they are back in stock. So I was thrilled when I found a stag and doe quite similar to the pink ones on TradeMe. They were, however, brass, and although I know some people may be horrified, I had them powder coated a lovely bright yellow. I am so happy with them, and don't they look great with the gorgeous portrait of me?! Hope you all have an awesome weekend, and don't forget, all you Hawke's Bay people, to check out the Craft & Design Market tomorrow morning.
