Scandi Style

Scandinavian style is incredibly popular both here in New Zealand, and world wide. The clean lines and simple colour palette create a serene and stylish interior. Black and white is widely used in Scandi interiors, and I love the addition of dusty pinks and light wood tones to soften the look and add warmth.

Using a little bit of Photoshop magic I've whipped up an example for you. You can't beat white walls and blonde wood floors to start with, then add soft grey sofas as your base -
I've used the Oscar 2 + 3 seater from Big Save Furniture. Layer with cushions, art and cute accessories to complete the look.

OYOY AW 13 Catalogue

A firm fan of Danish interior design company, OYOY, I was excited to see that their Autumn/Winter 13 catalogue is out now. Once again their blend of classic Scandinavian design and simple Japanese structure is quite magical.

This is a selection of some of my favourite items, but quite frankly, I love it all. I wait with baited breath to see if we get a New Zealand stockist, but in the meantime there are a number of online international shops.

Jonas Ingerstedt

Jonas Ingerstedt is an advertising photographer based in Stockholm. He has 30 years experience in fashion, beauty and lifestyle photography, now specialising in interiors with national and international clients. I've been on several interior shoots and I know how tricky they can be working with the natural light. But Jonas manages to capture the essence of a space beautifully, and translate it on to film.

This first home is typical of many in Scandinavia with it's black, white and wood. The addition of burnt orange and warm red throughout brings warmth and a common thread.

These advertising photographs show Jonas' skill in capturing the detail as well as the big picture. Make sure you check out his website for more beautiful examples of his work.
