Passionate About Pattern

A friend of mine forwarded me the link to this home thinking I'd like it, and she was right, I LOVE it (thanks Emma). Irene Neuwirth designs jewellery which is worn by Hollywood's royalty, and her luxe Bohemian style has been translated into her Venice Beach home.

A fellow lover of colour and pattern Irene finds it hard to go plain. I can relate to this being instantly drawn to pattern myself. She makes it work in her home by keeping the background simple - white walls and floors allow the furniture and artwork to bring the character.

The gorgeous home is filled with art and photographs, all of it personal and meaningful. Irene has mastered the picture wall by placing a piece in the centre and building out from there, adding new art as she collects it.

She has a built-in ability to mix patterns - keeping the colour palette consistent is key. "It's all about having a mixture that makes sense and stays balanced", she comments.

Rearranging her shelves on a regular basis is a labour of love. I do this too, and highly recommend this to keep your home looking and feeling fresh.

The bedhead alcove with it's built-in shelving is a clever idea. The colour palette is quieter in the bedroom to create a calm experience. As you can imagine, Irene's jewelley collection is exquisite.

A clothes rack in the corner holds the clothes that don't fit in the wardrobe. You can see her fashion sense definitely mirrors her interior style. Would you have thought to mix leopard print with the bright Moroccan rag rug? It looks fantastic, and note how they're balanced by the simplicity of the desk and lamp. California Style

I featured the beautiful nursery pic (below) on my Facebook page this week and got a great response. I love the simplicity of it, and the layers of pattern and texture that add warmth and depth. The little wolf pup photo is divine! I've feature the work of The Animal Print Shop before, they're the perfect piece for a nursery.

I thought I recognised the style used in this room and wasn't surprised to learn that it's the work of one of my favourite interior designers, Amber Lewis - I've featured her home twice on the blog, here and here. Like me, Amber likes to work with crisp white walls and neutral larger furniture pieces. It helps with a sense of calm, and then allows you to layer colour and pattern on top in rugs and soft furnishings.

Amber was hired by a young couple to update the master bedroom and bathroom in their Californian home. They were so thrilled with her work that they got her to continue throughout the house adding built-ins to the office, a banquette to the kitchen/dining area, and a nursery for their little baby that was on the way.

The finished home is so beautiful with a lovely flow created by a consistent colour palette of blue, white and brown. If you love this home as much as I do, pop over to Domaine to see and read more.

Ses + Jen Online Shop

I first met Ses and Jen when I featured Ses' cool home on the blog last year (see more here). The colour-loving mother and daughter duo share a passion for interior and fashion design. You can imagine my excitement when I heard that they were launching an online shop stocking all their favourite pieces for your home and wardrobe.

Yesterday the postie delivered a beautifully wrapped package from the girls, and I got my first taste of the goodness they're stocking.

I love my Ourlieu Jungle Kitty Clutch, it's just the right size for all my essentials - phone, purse, lippy, iPad mini. Thanks so much Ses + Jen!

The store is jam-packed with delicious colourful and patterned, quality pieces from their favourite designers. I wouldn't expect anything less from the stylish pair.

Here are few more of my favourite products, all going straight onto my wish list. Go and have a look for yourself, and make sure you sign up to their mailing list to see all new arrivals and specials offers.
